Just when you think things are getting better… 2013 is going to be a great year! It’s just started out a little bumpy already. Been working on getting our water back up and running again all day. And we’re about out of propane… Yay! Lol.

In no particular order, here is my list for 2013:

1. Build solar electric panel(s).
2. Build solar heater(s).
3. Build solar hot water system.
4. Exercise every day. (I have a plan)
5. Start keeping animals for food. (Goats, chickens, cows, etc.)
6. Listen to the bible every day.
7. Make more, work less!
8. Spend more time with my kids.
9. Figure out my ministry. (God’s calling in my life)
10. Grow our own food. (Square foot gardening, permaculture, raised beds, etc.)
11. Hunt and kill an animal for food, etc.
12. Eat healthier.

I know this ended up being more then 10. And I may add more in the future, but here it is for now. Now, again, I encourage each of you to do the same. 10 is a good easy start, and it’s been proven that if you write down your goals, you’re more likely to do them! Happy 2013!

Just thinking… We are looking in to getting some goats this year, starting “square foot gardening”, doing lots of “sustainable living” off the grid type projects. Just curious on what other people are doing, including suggestions for off the grid living “permaculture” style growing, etc.

Happy New Year

1 Jan

Happy New Year readers! Just shot my 12ga! The first time I’ve ever shot a gun that I own! Then I cracked my first Red Stripe ever (not bad, but not great). The first of MANY firsts this year! Let’s go for a ride!!! 🙂

New year

1 Jan

So today is the last day of 2012. Tonight at midnight a whole new year begins. Many people take this opportunity to make “resolutions”, or set goals, or select a “word for the year”. Whether you have a tradition for this time of year or not, I would challenge every person that reads this to come up with a list of 10 things they want to accomplish in 2013. Share it in the comments if you dare. I will even help keep you accountable if you’d like. 🙂 I will post my 10 things tomorrow.
Oh, and one more thing, happy birthday to the love of my life! I love you Carrie!

Pretty good day…

31 Dec

Well, it was a pretty good day. Church, lunch with the family, then tore apart my cousins laptop to replace an inoperative keyboard. It’ll be here in a few days. Work tomorrow. I like my job. A lot. Just with everything going on health-wise I hate being gone so much. But we’ll save those subjects for another post. Oh, and if I ever remember, there are 3 55-gallon drums I can pick up from a local car wash to try different incinerator ideas.

First post!

So, this may or may not be my first try at blogging. But in 2013 my family is claiming a year of rebuilding and prosperity. This blog will be a daily (hopefully) log of the process and a general sounding board for thoughts, ideas, rants, general musings, whatever the year may bring. Thanks to whoever is reading this for coming along for the ride. It’s sure to be a little bumpy, and hopefully a lot exciting along the way. So sit down, strap in, hold on. 2013 here we come, and you’re our’s!
